HAVE YOUR KIDS ASKED YOU THIS?

Today, my four year old son started a conversation with me that impressed me so much that I decided to share it with you.

I was watching a marketing webinar and my 4-year old son Misha asked me:

- Daddy, what do those people tell you all the time?

- They teach me how to make more money, – I answered.

- More money so you don’t have to go to work?

- Yes, Misha. But don’t you want me go to work?

- I do, but I want you to work at home on the computer.

It’s funny, but we, adults, seldom ask our little ones serious questions thinking that they do not yet understand a lot, especially matters related to business. But for sure they understand one important thing, that is where Mommy and Daddy belong – home. I pondered on this and came to a conclusion: Our kids want us to stay at home not because they are selfish or have a sharp sense of belonging. When we wake up every morning and start our rat race again, our kids feel abandoned; they don’t feel secure when we leave for the entire day having them stay with a nanny. And when we come back from work we only resemble visiting parents who spend a couple of hours with the kids to leave the next morning again. When we leave for work, who remains a role model for our kids? A babysitter? A friend? Anybody but us. Why should we be surprised when our kids surprise us with bad behavioral patterns we had not noticed before? Whose fault is it? Ours!

I remember the time when Misha would stand blocking the entrance door with his arms stretched to the sides and tears in his eyes, and with bitterness in his voice he would shout: “I won’t let you out! You’re not going anywhere!” It broke my heart every time he did that, so I tried to leave earlier, before he woke up, to avoid this scene.

Every morning, millions of moms and dads leave their kids for the sake of Corporate America. Many of them choose a lifestyle of the wealthy – a nice house, a cool car, fashion clothes, expensive vacations – while being broke: the house with a 30-year mortgage, the car that sucks money like a vacuum cleaner, clothes that go out of fashion in 6 months. Liabilities, liabilities, liabilities! They love their jobs so much that they can’t wait till Friday comes. They love their jobs as much as they hate Mondays. They love their jobs so much that they browse the Web to find a home-based business opportunity. They find one just to realize it was another scam. They’re frustrated, their kids want them home, but they don’t know what to do to break this devil’s circle of rat race. They feel trapped, desperate, and helpless.

I consider my kids as voices of wisdom. Would you like to know the truth about yourself? Ask your kids to tell you what they think about you? Ask your toddlers. You’ll be surprised to know what’s on their heart. You think they want a nanny to babysit them? They want you at home – the only place you belong while your kids are still growing. Why not combine pleasure and use – the time with your kids and the home-based business to provide for your family. I’ve done it. It’s YOUR turn now!
