What Is Network Marketing All About?

In this post you’ll find out about the four types of networks that you as a network marketer should build in order to succeed in network marketing. Network marketing is not about bugging family, friends, and co-workers with your business opportunity. Network marketing business is about building networks. You need to get rid of the stereotypical definition of network marketing and realize the true purpose of this business.

Traditional network marketing has earned a reputation of a pyramid scheme in the mind of an average Joe. Network marketers, just like used-car dealers, tend to be hated by people for their aggressive sales practices.

But what is network marketing truly all about? It’s about building networks, just as its name implies. Nets that work. A network is an interrelated system of things or people. You probably heard about computer networks, telephone networks, networking groups of business people, etc.

In order to succeed in network marketing, you should build four types of networks – four types of interrelated systems. They are as follows: an income-generating network, a lead-generating network, a downline-building network, and an educational network.

An Income-Generating Network

An income-generating network is comprised of a variety of sales-producing content – written, video, or audio (such as articles, blog posts, eBooks, video posts, Podcasts, etc.) An income-generating network works 24/7 to promote products and/or services that you and your network marketing company have to offer. Besides the purely technical things, an income-generating network also consists of your downline members who market both your network marketing company’s products and business opportunity.

A Lead-Generating Network

A lead-generating network contains tools designed to attract and recruit leads. Those tools are landing pages, opt-in boxes on websites and blogs, viral emails, referrals, etc. If you already have downline members, they are the ones who bring in new leads and new business to you as well.

A Downline-Building Network

A downline-building network consists of all the tools mentioned above. But to them, you can add email marketing that allows you to maintain contact with your customers who may eventually become your downline. Email marketing increases your credibility, builds more trust to you on the part of your customers, and attracts them to you as they get to know you better both as an individual and as a business pro. I’d like to make a point that even though you may use different tools to recruit and convert leads into customers or downline members, still you are the one people will eventually be dealing with. Your task is to attract people to you by being professional in the ability to solve their problems and meet their needs.

An Educational Network

A successful network marketer is the one who educates his/her customers and downline members. You can educate them in person in a classroom setting. You can also use powerful tools, such as webinars, educational phone calls, interviews with successful network marketers, ezines, eBooks, membership websites, etc. Educating your downline will facilitate the duplication process that is so much talked and dreamed about by most network marketers. Teaching is attractive. Teaching puts you one step ahead of your competition who struggle trying to resolve the duplication issue. Create a network of educational media, and you will reap generous results of your work.

So, what you do in your network marketing business is totally up to you, but the fact remains the same: Network marketing is about building networks and not about pulling people into this business like sheep to a slaughter. The sooner you start building your networks, the more successful your network marketing will become day by day. Why wait? Start spreading your network today.
